Thomas Gerald Krivak Ph.D., 82, of Zelienople, formerly of Harrison City, Pa., and Akron, Ohio, died holding the hand of his beloved wife of 59 years at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2022, in Mars.

He was born on Aug. 21,1940, in Windber, Pa., to John Krivak and Helen Krivak (Fialko), who preceded him in death.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce (Ripple) Krivak. Tom and Joyce were together since eighth grade, having their first date over 64 years ago.

Tom is survived by three children, Sandra Fowler of Zelienople, Thomas C. Krivak of Pittsburgh, and Katherine Krivak of Mars; and six grandchildren, Courtney, Thomas, Miriam, Victoria, Addison and Aedan.

Mr. Krivak is also survived by one sister, Virginia (Krivak) Stevenson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Krivak; and his sister, Katherine (Krivak) Naret.

He was a former member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Harrison City, Pa., and never missed a Mass no matter his location across the country or world.

Tom was a graduate of Shade High School (Cairnbrook, Pa.), University of Pittsburgh and the University Notre Dame.

He worked for 37 years at PPG Industries as a senior research chemist, holding 90 U.S. patents, 89 of which he was the primary investigator. Dr. Krivak was selected as a distinguished corporate inventor through Inventure Place, Home of the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Tom’s nieces and nephews, family, friends and coworkers truly appreciated the way he spent focused time with them, sharing stories and laughter.

Thomas Krivak will always be remembered for his love of sports, scouting football and softball games, fishing, his love of learning, and the love he had for his family. Tom enjoyed fishing the streams of Central City, Pa., kept a meticulous lawn, and always enjoyed attending any sporting event. He never missed his children’s or grandchildren’s school or athletic activities, always aware that the most important gift that we can give our children is to be present.

KRIVAK — A private Mass for Thomas Gerald Krivak Ph.D., who died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Central City, Pa., with burial to follow.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, in Pittsburgh. For more information, please email celebrationoflifetk@gmail.com.
