Events planned to remember those who lost lives on 9/11

The following events serve to remember those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The “We The People” motorcycle ride will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Rock for Life, Kittanning Fire Department and the Warriors of Chaos Veterans Motorcycle Club. Taking place rain or shine, registration begins at 8 a.m. with kickstands up at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 in Riverfront Park on South Water Street in Kittanning.

The Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company will commemorate the events of 9/11 throughout the morning Sunday, Sept. 11. A large American flag will be hung from a ladder truck at sunrise and assistant chief John Pristas will play taps in front of the memorial at 20727 Route 19.

The second annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony during Sprankle’s Octoberfest will take place at 12:30 p.m. during the festival on Sunday, Sept. 11. Featured performers will be the Kiski Valley Community Band and mezzo-soprano Marianne Cornetti.

The Harrisville Community Band will play at Concordia at Cabot’s Haven Apartments in recognition of Patriot Day. Music begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.
