High School Round Up
Logan Campbell rushed for 57 yards and scored all three Moniteau touchdowns Friday night as the Warriors defeated Cameron County, 20-12, on the road.
Campbell had three receptions for 63 yards as well.
Matt Baptiste ran for 77 yards and Hunter Stalker earned 68 on the ground for Moniteau (1-2). Colton Thomas led the defensive effort with nine tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception.
Matt Martino had eight tackles, David Dessicino seven and Campbell six for the Warriors. Dessicino threw for 83 yards.
Beaver Falls 44, Knoch 6
Sam Skurka rushed for 77 yards and scored the Knights’ only touchdown on a 2-yard run. Jake Murphy caught passes for more than 100 yards for Knoch.
Quarterback Codui Mullen threw for nearly 200 yards, but Beaver Falls struck for too many big plays as Knoch slipped to 0-3 on the season.
Summit Academy 18, Springdale 14
The Knights won their first game in three seasons. Summit Academy was winless last year and did not play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Springdale fell to 0-3 on the year.
Blackhawk 15, Mars 14
The Planets held an eight-point lead in the fourth frame of this one, but were unable to hang on for a victory. Blackhawk scored late in that quarter, but failed on a two-point conversion, keeping Mars ahead, 14-12. A field goal won the game for the Cougars.
Central Clarion 43, Union/A-C Valley 6
The Falcon Knights were held scoreless through the first three quarters, with their only points coming on a 25-yard Owen Bish run with 7:16 to go. The Wildcats outgained Union/A-C Valley by over 200 yards.
Dawson Camper rushed 58 yards on nine carries for the Falcon Knights.
Girls Volleyball
Taylor Schmitt had 14 kills as Mars defeated Blackhawk, 3-1, Thursday night. Match scores were 23-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-16.
Lily Jabor added eight kills and four aces, Lauren Atwell eight kills, three blocks and six digs.
Girls Tennis
Butler beat Mars 3-2 Thursday night.
In singles matches, Butler’s Jillian Clark beat Mars’ Cece Crowley and Butler’s Ali Smith topped Mars’ Reese Hanna. Mars’ Mikayla Turner bested Butler’s Anna Bowser.
In doubles matches, Bella Pazzaglia and Grace McCarty of Mars beat Lainey Vaughn and Olivia Culp of Butler. Butler’s Cameron Hanratty and Carly DeVore beat Mars’ Carla Genevro and Claire Magness.
Butler will take on Shaler Monday at home.
