Adams car cruise returns to benefit firefighter’s family
Cars will pull in to the Adams Township Community Park on Saturday for a cause.
The fifth-annual Benefit Car Cruise is scheduled for Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is open to all makes, models and years of cars, trucks and motorcycles.
Funds raised through the cruise will benefit the family of the late James “Jimmy” Ellis of the Adams Area Fire District.
Ellis, who served as vice president of the Adams Area Fire District and as a captain with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, died in July of a recent illness at age 49. He was known for devoting much of his life to the fire department and to training other firefighters.
“We are benefiting his family, and we’re asking for vehicles or any participants who are planning to attend for a $5 donation,” parks and recreation director Haley Zaliponi said.
The first 200 vehicles will receive dash plaques, she added. A variety of raffle baskets, which participants and spectators can purchase tickets for, will be available at the event. Door prizes will be given out every half hour starting at noon.
