History to come alive once again this weekend
Historical re-enactments, food, craft vendors, entertainment and the fresh fall air will greet visitors to the 39th annual Penn’s Colony Festival.
The event will be held during the next two weekends at Penn’s Colony Village Grounds on Saxonburg Boulevard in Clinton Township. The festival celebrates the bustling Colonial life during Gen. George Washington’s historic three-month trek through Western Pennsylvania in 1753 and 1754, which led to events that sparked the French and Indian War.
Pioneer pastimes will entertain children, while realistic battle re-enactments demonstrate skirmishes between the French and British in the quest to gain control of the region.
The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 17 and 24, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 18 and 25.
