PA awarded $240 million for water infrastructure

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has given Pennsylvania $240 million for improvements to water infrastructure in the state.

The funds will go toward clean water access, wastewater treatment, addressing pollution and protecting the environment, and is added to the $67 million given to Pennsylvania for its Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds.

“With this money, Pennsylvania can help guarantee the safety of our drinking water, improve wastewater treatment and help our stormwater system cope with the increased damage from storms worsened by climate change,” Gov. Tom Wolf said in a news release.

The $240 million will be distributed by PENNVEST, the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority.
