Legion honors WWII vet

James “Jim” Davis Sr. of Center Township, 102, received a certificate of appreciation on Sunday from Walt Skibicki, right, commander at the Butler American Legion post 117. Davis was recognized for his status as oldest member at the post. The post's ladies auxiliary provided a luncheon and cake thanking Davis, who attends every Sunday Pittsburgh Steelers game with his family at the legion on South Main Street. Davis served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, during World War II from 1942-45. He served in the European Theater as a propeller specialist on the B-17 Flying Fortress. Submitted photo
