If any customer of Butler Area Sewer Authority has questions about the authority’s potential sale to Pennsylvania American Water Company, now is the time to ask.

On Tuesday, about a dozen Pennsylvania American officials, several BASA employees and board members, plus people from its public relations firm, community-group leaders, and elected officials from both Butler and Butler Township were at the first of four open houses planned for this week.

The open houses were devised to hear questions and concerns from customers regarding the $231.5 million potential sale of the sewer authority to the private company.

The initial open house was from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Peter Catholic Church social hall in Butler.

People who attended learned about the authority’s list of improvement projects, totaling nearly $76 million.
