Grapevine Center hosting annual remembrance, celebration
The Grapevine Center will hold its annual Remembrance and Celebration of Life Rally on Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the carousel shelter at Alameda Park.
The event is part of Mental Illness Week and will highlight the impact of mental illness on people, families and the community. Butler County Human Services Director Brandon Savochka will present a proclamation to Grapevine Center Executive Director Bette Peoples. Psychiatrist Steve Treu, author of “Hope is Dope,” will be the keynote speaker.
Among those being remembered is the late Alex Peoples, Bette Peoples’ son, who struggled with drug addiction since he was a teenager. He died in November 2021 when he drowned in a river in Pittsburgh.
