Leo Rodgers Sr.
Leo E. Rodgers Sr., 85, of Butler, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, at home following an illness in the loving company of his family.
He was born July 24, 1937, in Carbon Center, and was the son of the late Joseph P. Rodgers and the late Marie J. Geibel Rodgers.
He worked at Pullman Standard in Butler for 18 years until the plant closed. He then worked in construction.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Butler, and a member of Happy Hunters Sportsman’s Club of Fenelton.
He enjoyed working on tractors and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Helen K. Miller Rodgers; two daughters, Deborah Hudson of Butler, and Mary (Dave) Weichey of Butler; a son, Joseph Rodgers of Butler; three granddaughters; four grandsons; one great-granddaughter; six great-grandsons; a sister-in-law, Clara Rodgers of Portersville; several nieces and nephews; and his brothers, Carl and his wife Kathy Rodgers of Alaska, and Gerald Rodgers of Butler.
He was preceded in death by a son, Leo E. Rodgers Jr.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, George Rodgers, Clyde and Darlene Rodgers, Paul and Evelyn Rodgers, Rege and Margaret Rodgers and Edward Rodgers; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jack Butler.
RODGERS — Friends of Leo E. Rodgers Sr., who died Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Butler, with the Rev. Matt McClain officiating.
Burial will be held in Rodgers Family Cemetery, Butler.
