A committee of six people was formed at the Slippery Rock Borough Council meeting Tuesday night to discuss the future of a passive park in the Poplar Forest housing development.

Council President Jeff Campbell said Wednesday that council members, residents of the development, and people with arborist backgrounds expressed interest in meeting about the green space near Sassafras Drive and Kelly Road.

Council members Royce Lorentz and Ron Steele, residents Mike Pavlek and Allan Maust, and Gizell Agoya and Becky Lubold, who have arborist experience, will discuss planting vegetation and beautifying the passive park.

Campbell said he requested the group to provide an update at a special council meeting Tuesday, Oct. 18.

At that same meeting, Campbell said it’s likely a new borough manager will be hired by council as well as a representative responsible for finding grants to replace borough streetlights.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the borough building, 306 E. Water St.
