Butler Transit Authority accepts new HVAC agreement
BUTLER TWP — The Butler Transit Authority entered a five-year agreement with Renick Brothers on Tuesday which will provide maintenance for the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning at a cost of $6,664 per year.
John Paul, executive director of the transit authority, said at the meeting that the total cost over five years will be $33,320. Paul also said the previous contractor, TUDI Mechanical Systems, decided not to renew its agreement with the transit authority.
“They have contact through a web portal for communication,” Paul said of Renick Brothers. “There is 24/7 Monday through Sunday service.”
Also at the meeting, the authority updated a code of conduct policy to accommodate a special request.
Rebecca Black, solicitor for the transit authority, said administrators received a request from a passenger who needs accommodations that go against the authority’s policy that allows riders just one carry-on bag of up to a certain size.
“It’s on request only, so it’s not something that everybody can do,” Black said. “It’s for extraordinary circumstances where a doctor has presented a doctor’s note indicating that there is a medical necessity.”
Because of a Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association conference in November, which Paul is attending, the next meeting of the authority will be at 5 p.m. Nov. 22 at the authority office.
