Knoch Laps for Learning breaks fundraising goal
The annual Laps for Learning fundraiser saw 235 students and 21 teachers and staff from the Knoch Intermediate Elementary School run and walk a total of 5,147 laps around the track at Knoch High School, which is a distance that equals a trek from Saxonburg to Bismark, N.D.
The event was held on Aug. 31, before the stadium was declared off-limits due to the district’s stadium and high school renovation project.
The fourth- and fifth-graders, staff and teachers raised a total of $26,909. The goal for the 2022 Laps for Learning was $20,000.
Individual students were awarded for most laps and top fundraisers, and three classes earned parties for participation level, laps walked and top fundraising.
Local businesses donated gift cards and other items for the event.
Proceeds will be used to hold a school-wide movie afternoon.
