Falcon Knights crush Smethport
Brody Dittman and Owen Bish both threw touchdown passes Friday night as Union/A-C Valley snapped a two-game losing skid with a 42-7 football triumph over Smethport (1-7, 0-6) in Rimersburg.
Zach and Ryan Cooper were on the receiving end of those tosses, Zach scoring from 37 yards out, Ryan from 60. Ryan Cooper also returned a punt 46 yards for a touchdown and an interception 42 yards for a score.
Dawson Camper led the Falcon Knights’ rushing attack with 55 yards. Defensively, Landon Chalmers had six tackles and Mikey Card five tackles.
Union/A-C Valley (4-4, 3-3) travels to Ridgway next Friday.
Avonworth 37, North Catholic 7 — Only Samir Ware’s kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter kept the Trojans from being shut out against the stingy Antelopes (7-1), who have allowed just 24 points in the last five games.
North (4-4) plays at Indiana next Friday.
Punxsutawney 41, Moniteau 0 — The Warriors (2-6, 1-5) lost on the road to the Chucks (4-4, 3-3). No other details were available.
Moniteau hosts DuBois Area next Friday.
Hockey
Alex Malichky scored two goals while Tyler Garvin and Ethan Lindbergh added goals in Seneca Valley’s 4-2 win over defending state champion Peters Township Thursday night.
Johnathon Nichols made 33 saves in the victory. The Raiders travel to Baldwin Monday.
