County in for ‘rollercoaster’ weather this week
Butler County residents may see snowflakes for the first time this season Wednesday.
Rich Redmond, from the U.S. National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, said that while temperatures will be lingering around the low to mid-30s overnight, it’s not a good setup for accumulation, largely due to ground temperature.
“If any county residents see accumulation, it will probably be further north, closer to Venango,” Redmond said. “It’s still a little too warm for it.”
Wednesday temperatures are expected to rest in the low 40s. If any snow lingers, we’ll likely see it in the morning amid scattered rain showers, further decreasing chances of accumulation.
Redmond added that Thursday is looking like the coldest morning this week, with temperatures in the upper 20s. Anyone with plants is advised to bring them inside or cover them to protect from the widespread freeze.
Luckily, the weather is expected to take a fairer turn heading into the weekend.
Friday will warm up to between 55 and 60 degrees, rising into the mid-60s on Saturday, with Sunday rounding out the lineup with temperatures in the possible low 70s.
While Redmond confirmed it’s a little early for snowfall, the month hasn’t been record-cold.
“This doesn’t happen every year,” he said, “but these rollercoasters aren’t unusual for October.”
