Trojans get shutout win on road
In a strong defensive effort, North Catholic went on the road and blanked Indiana in a 41-0 gridiron victory. The Trojans were up 14-0 at the half and opened up their attack over the last 24 minutes. It was the Little Indians’ third consecutive setback.
East Allegheny 31, Knoch 21 — The Knights (0-9, 0-4) remain winless, but had their best offensive output this month. They’ll play Valley (1-8, 0-4) at Butler High School next Friday.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats (7-2, 3-1) locked down a playoff spot with the win.
Farrell 41, Slippery Rock 0 — In their regular season finale, the Rockets (5-4, 3-4) were shut out for the first time since Oct. 2020. No further information was available.
Union/A-C Valley 26, Ridgway 19 — The Falcon Knights (5-4, 3-3) won their second straight matchup. No further information was available.
Girls Volleyball
Freeport improved to 14-0 in sectional play and 16-2 overall with a road sweep of Burrell Thursday night. The scores were 25-8, 25-20, and 25-16.
Alaina Whitlinger had six kills, three blocks, and 19 service points. Cassidy Dell added seven kills and 10 service points.
A-C Valley 3, Moniteau 0 — In their regular season finale, the Falcons swept the Warriors by scores of 25-15, 25-16, and 26-25. Lexi Ruckdeschel had 14 kills and 10 digs in the win.
A-C Valley will play in the District 9 playoffs starting Tuesday.
Cross Country
Karns City’s Griffin Booher won the boys race in 18 minutes, 9 seconds at the District 9 Championships. Dillon Stroup medaled by placing fifth. Noah Weiland won the junior high race for the Gremlins.
