Middlesex police charge former caregiver with 72 counts of fraud, theft

$15,000 missing from 78-year-old woman’s accounts

A Pittsburgh woman faces 72 felony theft and fraud charges after police said she scammed a 78-year-old woman out of nearly $15,000 and attempted to withdraw an additional $75,000 without permission.

On Monday, Middlesex Township police filed charges against Connie J. Brucker, 54, after receiving reports of what police allege was fraud in September.

According to the affidavit, the woman reported that Brucker was her caretaker from May through September. During that time, the woman told police she allowed Brucker to use a vehicle and debit cards for certain transactions.

The woman discovered the fraudulent activity after an attempted withdrawal of $75,000 was made from her annuity account, police said.

Police investigated other debit and credit card and check transactions in light of the woman’s claim.
