Jordan

On Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, Barbara Ruth Jordan (Vigue), beloved wife and mother, passed away while traveling in Europe. She was 67 years old. Born to Robert and Louise Vigue (Black) in Maine, she grew up in the South Side of Pittsburgh.

She attended Knoxville High School and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School, worked for the U.S. Post Office, and then continued her education at CCAC earning an A.S. in Engineering Technology. Later she attended and graduated from Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in Geology, where she met her husband and life partner, Frank Jordan.

After graduation they lived in Hudson, Mass., and worked at GSC with college friends before moving to Butler to work for Kleinfelder. She retired as a Senior Geologist. She was a member of the Ginger Hill Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Slippery Rock. She also volunteered with the Connoquenessing Watershed Alliance and led and participated in many river cleanups in the local area. She was also a standing member of Mensa.

Barbara was many things: a lover of all things science, including astronomy and physics, astrology, an admirer of cats, an amateur bird watcher, an avid reader and writer, a movie enthusiast, consummate rock hound, collector of vintage purses, a Bugs Bunny fan, a world traveler with a love of museums and art galleries, a plant lover with two green thumbs, a master of sarcasm and an enjoyer of life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Vigue; her youngest brother, Brian Vigue; granddaughter, Soleil Levis; and nephew, Charles Brazell.

She leaves behind her husband, Frank Jordan; mother, Louise Vigue; sister, Jean Broge (Anne); and brothers, Robert and Steven Vigue (Eva). She also leaves behind her children, Max Levis (Amanda), Nicholas Heath (Cassie), and Natalie Morin (J.D.), as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely.

JORDAN — A Celebration of Life gathering will be held for Barbara Ruth Jordan (Vigue), who died Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Prospect Volunteer Fire Hall. All are welcome to remember and celebrate a life lived fully with friends and family alike.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donating time to a local animal shelter, museum, school, park or library.
