Charges against twin brother of homicide suspect held for court
CHICORA — Charges against a man accused of having drugs and a gun during a September traffic stop in Clay Township were held over to Butler County Common Pleas Court following a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
Charles Daniel Lloyd, 20, of Pittsburgh, pleaded not guilty to the accusations before District Judge Lewis Stoughton, who held for court all six charges filed by state police.
According to an affidavit, police initially misidentified Charles Lloyd as the homicide suspect: his identical twin brother, Daniel Charles Lloyd, of Pitcairn.
In June, Daniel Lloyd was charged with criminal homicide related to the killing of an Ohio man who was in Muddy Creek Township. He was arrested in Detroit on Sept. 16.
While not accused in that case, Charles Lloyd, along with a Pittsburgh woman, Tylah J. Witherspoon, 24, whom police alleged was an accomplice, was charged with felony counts of possessing a gun with an altered serial number and drug sales. She was also charged with counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and making repairs to an offensive weapon.
Charles Lloyd additionally was charged with one felony count of carrying a gun without a license and a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence.
According to an affidavit, police stopped a vehicle driven by Charles Lloyd around 11:44 a.m. along West Sunbury Road. Police initially saw the truck in Center Township. While following it, police said they saw it cross the center line twice and travel on the wrong side of the road three times.
Police said that after obtaining a search warrant, they found a .40-caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number, a 9 mm pistol, a bag of marijuana, a black scale and a container with 53 stamp bags. It was not clear if the stamp bags were filled with any substances.
Charles Lloyd will appear in Common Pleas Court on Dec. 19.
