Ambridge man accused of $10K fraud with company card

An Ambridge man is being charged with three felonies for using a company-issued credit card to make over $10,000 in purchases, police said.

Jeffrey E. McGaughey, 34, was charged Wednesday by Cranberry Township police with felonies theft and access device fraud regarding multiple incidents in April through June.

According to charging documents, McGaughey was employed as a maintenance supervisor at UPMC Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Township until July 2022. In the months before, 18 unauthorized purchases were discovered on a credit card issued to him.

Police said purchases were made at Walmart, Lowe’s, Giant Eagle, Home Depot, Tribal Motorsports, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Summit Racing, Burger King and other stores for items that were not on the company campus.

The purchases amounted to $10,401, according to the affidavit.

As of Thursday, a preliminary hearing for McGaughey was not scheduled.
