Edward Charles Hook, 97, of St. Paul, Minn., passed away on Nov. 2, 2022, at the Heart to Home Hilltop assisted living facility.

He was born April 19, 1925, in Farmers, Ky., and was the son of the late Charles Walter Hook and the late Nancy Susan Boggs.

Dr. Edward Charles Hook graduated from Rowan County High School; Anderson University in 1952 with his B.A. degree; The Theological Seminary in 1956 for his Masters of Theology; Colgate-Rochester Divinity School for Doctorate of Ministry in marriage and family life; and was admitted to practice for family therapy by American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy in 1977.

He was a member of the following organizations: clinical member of American Association of Marriage and Family; Rotary International of Sayre, Pa., where he was club president (1979-1980); and Mansfield University as an off-campus teacher in family studies.

Dr. Hook practiced marriage and family therapy from 1977 to 1990. He was an associate and contributing editor for Vital Christianity, Church of God (publication) in Anderson, Ind. Dr. Hook was the chairman of the Clergy Association of Boyertown District of the Church of God in Pennsylvania. He was inducted as a member of Rotary International (Sayre, Pa.) in 1964, and served as secretary, vice president and president of Sayre Rotary from 1967 to1969.

He practiced marriage and family therapy at Belair Clinic on a halftime basis from 1990 to 1997, and marriage and family counseling for Cornwall Park Church of God from 1994 to 1997.

Dr. Hook held the position of secretary in the Bellingham Sunrise Rotary from 1990 to 1997. He was a delegate and speaker at Church of God World Missions Convention in Zurich, Switzerland in 1967. Dr. Hook served as a pastor at Church of God in Castorland, N.Y., from 1957 to 1958; pastor at Church of God in Bertha, Minn., from 1958 to 1962; pastor at Church of God in Sayre, Pa. from 1962 to 1985, where he also served as a marriage counselor from 1977 to 1985; and was the director of Main Street Counseling Center from 1985 to 1990.

Dr. Hook is survived by his son, Ronald Hook of St. Paul, Minn.; and two nephews, Larry Hardman and Gary Hardman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Coral Carlene Hook Weigle, who passed away on Oct. 23, 2012; four brothers, Bert Hook, John Hook, Glenn, Hayword and Howard Hook; one sister, Edna Herdman; and one daughter, Pamela Kaye Hook.

HOOK — Friends of Edward Charles Hook, who died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, will be received from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held immediately following at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Edmundson officiating.

Military services will be held before the service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to Rotary International.
