Crews respond to multiple I-79 crashes
Crews responded to multiple crashes Friday afternoon on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township, according to Butler County 911 dispatch.
According to the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh, a dangerous snow squall was detected at 12:30 p.m. Friday near Cranberry. Dangerous road conditions for Interstate 79 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike were predicted.
At 12:40 p.m., a four-car crash was reported in the southbound lanes near mile marker 83.6.
Five minutes after the first crash, several tractor trailers and vehicles crashed in the northbound lanes at mile marker 84.4.
The squall warning is now set to expire later Friday afternoon.
