Multiple people injured in 6 vehicle crash in Middlesex Township
MIDDLESEX TWP — Multiple people were injured in a six-vehicle crash Friday morning at the intersection of Route 8 and Route 228 West in Middlesex Township.
Two people were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance and four others were treated at the scene for injuries, according to the Middlesex Fire Department.
The crash, which happened around 11:30 a.m., required “extensive cleanup,” Middlesex Fire Department’s Chief Walt Hamilton said.
Cleanup continued at the scene into the early afternoon when a snow squall swept across Butler County.
“We were still there, which started causing other issues, directing traffic,” Hamilton said.
He declined to speak about how the crash may have occurred or address social media rumors that the incident related to a chase that began in Butler.
He said, however, the vehicles involved saw “heavy, heavy damage.”
Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Company, Middlesex Township Police Department and Quality EMS were among those who responded to the scene.
