Youth injured in ATV accident

A Thanksgiving Day ATV wreck sent one male to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Steve Emery, chief at Bruin Volunteer Fire Department, said first responders were dispatched just after noon Thursday to Annisville Road in Parker Township for an ATV accident.

Emery said firefighters, state police and EMS crews found a teenage male who had lost control of the ATV in the 500 block of the rural road and rolled over.

He said the young man, who was the lone rider on the ATV, appeared to have sustained head injuries in the single-vehicle crash.

Emery would not comment on whether the rider was wearing a helmet.

He said a medical helicopter flew the young man to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Emery said he was told the youth was a resident of the Eldorado neighborhood of Parker Township.

He did not know the injured party’s name or age.

The state trooper who responded to the accident could not be reached for comment on Friday.
