John Edward Fobes, 66, of New Castle, Lawrence County, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

He was born in New Castle on April 18, 1956, to John Herbert Fobes and Helen Marie Hall Fobes.

He married Jane Ladesic on June 21, 1980.

John was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was employed at Altium Packaging and worked there for 44 years.

John was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Slippery Rock.

He enjoyed rebuilding swimming pools, playing with dogs, and going to the Meadows Casino. John was a lifelong Steelers fan.

Survivors include his wife, Jane, of New Castle; two sons, Michael John (Sabrina) of Circleville, Ohio, and John Richard of New Brighton; a daughter, Rhonda of New Castle; two sisters, Carol Black (Walter) of New Castle, and Tracy Fobes of New Castle; a brother, Bill (Kerri) of New Castle; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

FOBES — The family of John Edward Fobes, who died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 680 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, with Father Sean Francis presiding.
