Janice Eileen Wetzel Fischer, 44, of Glenshaw, passed away on Nov. 25, 2022, at West Penn Hospital.

She was born March 28, 1978, in Erie, to Carl W. Wetzel and Cathy Eileen Varner Wetzel.

Janice graduated from Butler High School and Butler County Community College with a degree in nursing.

She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Parish.

Janice worked at Children’s and Mercy hospitals in Pittsburgh, and worked as a supervisor of nurses at United Healthcare.

Janice is survived by her husband, John P. Fischer, whom she married on May 29, 2004; one son, Maksim Roger Fischer; her parents, Carl W. and Cathy Eileen Wetzel of Butler; two brothers, Scott W. (Julie) Wetzel of Butler, and Michael W. Wetzel of Butler; three nieces; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; and an uncle.

FISCHER — Per her request, there will be no public visitation for Janice Eileen Wetzel Fischer, who died Friday, Nov. 25, 2022.

A private memorial service was held Wednesday at the Community Alliance Church with her cousin, Tom Varner officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741; or ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
