Investigation of College Street homicide continues
One year later, the death of a man who was stabbed and shot on College Street remains under investigation by Butler City police.
On Dec. 5, 2021, Hakeem Moran, 31, of Pittsburgh, was taken from 109 College St. to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for multiple stab wounds and a gunshot wound. According to police, he died later that night from injuries. His death was ruled a homicide.
Officers had responded to reports of shots fired at the address and discovered two victims, who said they were assaulted by three unknown Black males.
An autopsy revealed that Moran was stabbed multiple times and shot once, police said.
According to Robert O’Neill, chief of Butler city police, the incident is still under investigation.
“I cannot offer any further comment,” he said in an email Monday.
Tenants at the College Street address reported that the robbers, who were dressed in black clothing, burst into the building shortly after 7:30 p.m. demanding drugs and money. One resident was pistol-whipped, while another was forced at gunpoint up a flight of stairs, according to previous reports.
Gunshots rang out shortly after, and tenants told police the men fled the scene. They later reported that medications and money were missing from their apartment.
