This year’s Wreaths Across America will take place Saturday, Dec. 17, at six county cemeteries.

The program enables volunteers to honor deceased veterans by laying wreaths at each veteran’s grave in designated cemeteries. The wreaths for the project come from donations of $15 per wreath, which are made in Maine and sent to the volunteer coordinators.

County residents can donate by logging onto wreathsacrossamerica.org, scrolling down to “Where We Remember,” click on “Find a specific location” and type in the name of your cemetery of choice. Single wreaths can be donated with an option to donate multiple.

North Cemetery Association in Butler, Zelienople Cemetery in Zelienople and Plains Church Cemetery in Cranberry Township will host both ceremonies and wreath laying at noon on Dec. 17. St. Luke Lutheran Church Cemetery in Cabot will host its ceremony and wreath laying at 10 a.m. on Dec. 17, with Saxonburg Cemetery in Saxonburg hosting its at 11 a.m. on Dec. 17.

The Penn Township Veteran Memorial will be a ceremony only event, which means that instead of honoring each veteran in the cemetery individually, a ceremony is conducted in a centralized location. The ceremony will take place at noon on Dec. 17.
