Bracelets on sale to support injured Mars teen
Mars Area Middle School Spirit Club is selling green bracelets with the message “Paige Strong” to benefit the family of eighth-grader Paige Lauten, who suffered serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle Nov. 29.
Each bracelet costs $2. Proceeds will go toward supporting Paige’s family. Those who want to place orders can do so through each school building’s guidance office.
Paige was trying to cross Route 228 from Mars Area Middle School at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 29 when an oncoming vehicle struck her, Chief Shawn Anglum of the Adams Township Police Department said. The 13-year-old was taken by ambulance to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she’s receiving treatment for serious injuries.
On Thursday a post on the Facebook page Prayers for Paige L, which Paige’s aunt created Nov. 29, shared the following message:
“This week, Paige has experienced a couple little victories with the hope of some more clarification and more information soon.
“She has been able to progress enough for the (doctors) and nurses to hopefully take a next step in her process. Until we know more, we don’t want to provide any potential misinformation. This is definitely a fluid process but if it takes time, then we stay patient. We are on her time, but your prayers are working.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for their support — through texts, emails, e-cards, gift cards, etc — and we are so appreciative of everything. Please keep praying and she will continue to fight and battle through this.”
