Missing Armstrong County girl found safe
A missing 13-year-old girl, Haley Kreider, was been found safe in West Kittanning at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
The Manor Township Police Department put out a Facebook post Friday asking the community for help in finding Haley, who was last seen near Armstrong Jr.-Sr. High School on Thursday and was believed to be in immediate physical danger.
Numerous Armstrong County police and fire departments searched several miles of wooded areas, including waterways, Thursday on foot and by air where the girl was last seen. Police said thermal imaging drones and other technology were used in the search. They also asked other potential search volunteers to stand by.
On Friday, police said the search for Haley was been called off because new information eliminated the need for a search.
“We thank all who have helped in this case in any way, shape or form,” Manor Township police said in a statement on their Facebook page. “The juvenile was located in part thanks to a citizen tip received and good old fashioned police work.”
