At least 1 person injured in crash near Clearview Mall
At least one person was injured in a Tuesday, Dec. 13, night crash on Route 8 in front of the Clearview Mall in Center Township.
One person was flown to a hospital by LifeFlight medical helicopter following the crash at 9 p.m. at the intersection of the mall entrance and Sheetz. County emergency services reported that three vehicles were involved.
Photographs taken by Holly Taylor Mead, of Butler, who was in the Eat’n Park when the crash occurred, show a car and a blue pick-up truck with damages. The car appeared to have major front-end damage, and the truck appears to have come to rest after hitting a utility pole in front of the Sheetz.
Mead said she heard the crash, which shook the building, and then went outside and stayed with the female driver of the damaged car until emergency responders arrived. She said she believes it was the female driver who was flown in the helicopter, which landed in the mall parking lot. The car came close to hitting the restaurant, she said.
“I was in the restaurant and heard it. I ran outside and stayed with the girl until police arrived,” Mead said. “It was a huge wreck. The car went toward Eat’n Park. It landed 6 to 8 feet from the building.”
She said she believes the truck driver also was injured. Two wheels came off of the truck in the crash, she said.
Many drivers stopped to help the people involved in the crash, Mead said.
The Unionville Volunteer Fire Company, state police and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the crash. The scene was cleared in about an hour.
