Domenic DeMatteis

DeMatteis

Domenic Pete DeMatteis, originally from Boyers and currently residing in St. Marys, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Born in Boyers, he was the son of the late Peter U. and Anna Marterella DeMatteis.

He graduated from Moniteau High School, and served in the U.S. Army for six years.

Dom was a committed and driven entrepreneur who owned several businesses. He owned Jo-De Pizza in Butler, Sunbeam Coal Company in Boyers, and Shaliston Enterprises and BevEnergy in West Sunbury. After he retired, Dom consulted for BenHal Mining in Grove City.

On July 1, 2011, Dom married Beverly Reed Crissman, who survives.

Along with his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters, Shari DeMatteis (Eric Chapman) of Charleston, S.C., and Lisa Littlejohn (Steve) of Butler; his stepson, Glenn Crissman (Roseann); and his stepdaughter, Justine Crissman (Dino Dinsmore) of St. Marys.

Dom had many grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Mario Conti, Merritt Penrod, Brendon and Hayden Littlejohn, and Noah and Gavin Crissman; and a great-granddaughter, Callie.

He also is survived by his sister, Gertie Andreassi, of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dom was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jo; and a brother-in-law, Tony Andreassi.

Dom was a family man and had many close friends. He was a mentor and touched many people’s lives by encouraging them, and he always saw the best in everybody. He captivated people with his ability to tell stories and was an avid golfer and sports lover. He was a true hero.

DEMATTEIS — Visitation for Domenic Pete DeMatteis, who died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at LYNCH-RADKOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 169 Center St., St. Marys, Pa.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center St., St. Marys, Pa., with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB pastor, officiating.

Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.

Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dom’s honor to Elk County Community Foundation for the Bev Hogan Memorial Nursing Scholarship, P.O. Box 934, St. Marys, PA 15857.
