Vo-Tech artists win plow program
Motorists who see a giant octopus coming toward them during bad weather this winter can thank four student artists at Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School, who won a multicounty contest with their aquatic design.
The vo-tech school was announced Friday morning as the winner of the state Department of Transportation District 10 “Paint the Plow” contest.
Students throughout District 10, which includes Butler, Armstrong, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson counties, are invited each year to paint a PennDOT snowplow with a certain theme for the contest.
This year’s theme was “put down the device in snow and ice.”
Vo-tech graphic arts student Haley Zediker’s design won her the opportunity to complete the plow, according to graphic arts teacher Lee Ann Clutter.
Haley and her classmates, Viktoriya Semenenko, Ben Frenchak and Sophia Zang, spent two weeks painting the plow, Clutter said.
