Woman, alleged accomplice in robbery, charged

State police filed charges Wednesday against a Slippery Rock woman for what they say is her role in a robbery and for failing to report her accomplice’s whereabouts to police.

In one case, Tiffany L. Lowers, 35, was charged with felonies burglary, theft and two counts of robbery connected to an incident involving her boyfriend, Ryan A. Williams, 44, of Harrisville.

Police said around 5 a.m. on Dec. 3, Williams and Lowers entered a residence through a locked door. The homeowner was in the living room.

Williams reportedly picked up a hunting knife and held it toward the homeowner while making demands, and threatening to cut the homeowner’s fingers off. Lowers took the victim’s phone and began deleting content. Police said Williams attempted to restrain the homeowner with bed sheets as Lowers did this.

Williams and Lowers rummaged through the entire residence and stole a Remington 870 pump action, 12-gauge shotgun, according to documents. They fled in a vehicle operated by Lowers.

Following the incident, Williams was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of a $10,000 bond. He made a phone call to Lowers on Dec. 14.

Police said Williams asked Lowers to retrieve the stolen firearm from its hiding place, and Lowers agreed.

Williams was later released, and state police filed charges in two additional cases against him Monday.

On Sunday, Dec. 18, Williams was charged with felony aggravated assault and intimidating a witness, misdemeanor reckless endangerment and summaries harassment and disorderly conduct after witnesses reported seeing him with the stolen firearm.

State police said they were contacted at 4 a.m. for a report of shots fired in Concord Township. The homeowner from the burglary incident regarding Williams reported that a dark sedan approached the address and parked.

When gunshots were heard outside, the homeowner said Williams was pointing the gun at the house and shooting toward the residence. The homeowner told police he thought Williams was retaliating after the previous crime had been reported.

Police said two sets of footprints were found in the snow near the residence and Route 38, and a 12-gauge shotgun shell was discovered on the road.

Police asked for the public’s help in locating Williams and apprehended him Tuesday evening on an anonymous tip. According to documents, Lowers was found with Williams and later interviewed.

Lowers told police she had been dating Williams for one month. On Sunday, Dec. 18, she and Williams were discovered by police at the Holiday Inn in Butler. After Williams fled the scene, Lowers was informed of his active arrest warrants.

Police said on Monday, Dec. 19, Williams asked Lowers to meet him at the Uni-Mart in Petrolia Borough. Lowers reported that Williams was dropped off and the two walked to Lowers’ aunt’s residence.

The two remained there until state troopers discovered them Tuesday, Dec. 20.

As a result of this incident, Lowers was charged with misdemeanor hindering apprehension and placed under a $10,000 bond.

Lowers was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of an additional $50,000 bond for the robbery, which police allege to have occurred.

She is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Jan. 3 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
