Eileen Datt

Eileen Emily Reed Datt, 92, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Penn Highlands Hospital in Brookville, Pa., on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022.

She was born on May 26, 1930, in Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, to Clarence Ewing Reed and Mae Carpenter Reed.

She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1949, and Penn State University with a degree in home economics in 1953.

Eileen married Williard Elroy “Red” Datt on Sept. 19, 1953. He preceded her in death.

Eileen was the owner and educator of the Fabric Sewing Center in Slippery Rock for 45 years.

She was an active member of Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley D. (Boyd) Edmondson of Marienville, Pa., and Linda M. (Glenn) Hunter of Grove City; and two grandchildren, David (Katelyn) Hewitt and Matthew (Ja’el) Edmondson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie Edmondson; and son-in-law, Thomas Hewitt.

DATT — Memorial services for Eileen Emily Reed Datt, who died Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St., Slippery Rock, and led by the Rev. William Mumaw.

Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of SMITH FUNERAL HOME in Slippery Rock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Center Presbyterian Church.
