Speed limits reduced on PA 28, I-79
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reduced the speed limit on PA 28 and on Interstate 79 to 45 miles per hour just before noon on Friday, with a “Commercial Vehicle Right Lane Only” restriction.
Speed limits have been reduced between the beginning of PA 28 and the US 422 West exit, and between Exit 59A and the end of I-79 in Erie to 45 miles per hour due to winter weather, according to a Friday news release from PennDOT.
PennDOT is also urging motorists to avoid travel if possible during the predicted severe weather. If travel is necessary, use caution, reduce speeds and be aware of changing weather conditions, the news release said.
