UPDATE: The northbound lane has been reopened.

Interstate 79 northbound is closed between Exit 99 and Exit 105 in Slippery Rock, due to a vehicle crash that happened around 12:45, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The estimated time it will reopen is 3 p.m. but may change based on conditions, the news release said.

PennDOT reduced the speed limit on I-79 to 45 miles per hour with a Commercial Vehicle Right Lane Only restriction just before noon Friday.

PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid travel if possible, but if travel is necessary, use caution, reduce speeds and be aware of changing weather conditions.
