Truck hits house in Butler Township
BUTLER TWP — Stephanie Dano was sitting in the back of her house on Butler Road on Friday afternoon when she heard a loud crash that sounded a little too close for comfort.
She went outside to see a Ford F-150 turned on its side in her driveway, with tire tracks from the road through an area in her yard where she had been walking her dogs just 10 minutes earlier.
“My dogs could have been out here,” said Dano, who moved back into her childhood home on the street about three years ago. “I couldn’t put my car in the garage, or else it would have been in there.”
Butler Township police said the driver of the Ford F-150 had been evaluated by Butler EMS staff, but was not transported for medical treatment following the crash. They also said the crash was under investigation, but the driver did not seem to be under the influence of any substances. They said he may have hit a small ravine that ran parallel to the road in front of Dano’s house, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
The truck took considerable damage in the crash, and the side of Dano’s Toyota Camry was smashed in, having been pushed by the truck several feet from the driveway where it was parked. The passenger side doors were smashed.
The truck also hit Dano’s porch, which she said she uses often, and a part of its siding had fallen in on itself.
Police advised Dano to not use the porch until it could be repaired. Dano was concerned about the structure of her house, as well as her car and transportation situation.
“How am I going to get to work tomorrow?” Dano said.
