Ghosts and ghouls will be roaming the streets of Butler in a few days, although, they may look a little smaller than in the movies.

I’m eager to see what the most popular costume is among the neighborhood children this year. How many superheroes, witches and cartoon characters will cross my yard?

Most people see Halloween as a night your children get free candy from neighbors, but I see it as an opportunity to connect with people you don’t see throughout all of life’s business.

The Butler Ghost Walk continues terrifying residents with spooky local tales Friday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Oct. 30, in Diamond Park. For more information, visit Butlerghostwalk.com.

Zelie Paranormal in the Park will haunt Zelienople Community Park, East Beaver Street, all weekend. Come around Friday, Oct. 28, if you’re 18 and older for trail investigations, reiki sessions, a cornhole tournament, food trucks and raffles. Kid-friendly activities are from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.

Butler Two Steppers will hold a dance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave, Lyndora.

Fill your goodie bag at Trunk or Treat events Saturday, Oct. 29! Trinity Community Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., is holding one at noon, and Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Company’s event at 130 Browns Hill Road starts at 2 p.m. Wear your favorite costume and bring whole family. There will be crafts, games and plenty of treats, as well as the opportunity to sit in a fire truck.

There’s a Halloween Pinball Tournament at Tokens Arcade in Lyndora, 18 Chesapeake St., at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. The following Halloween party will include games, candy, snacks and a costume contest at 7 p.m.

Hike the Creatures of the Night trail with the Audubon Society beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Hear stories from nocturnal creatures such as the raccoon, opossum, spider and bat. Register at http://aswp.org for the event in Buffalo Creek Nature Park, 154 Monroe Road, Sarver.

Join the Butler AM Rotary for the fourth annual Ghosts & Giggles at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Vagabond Center, 138 Whitestown Road, Lyndora. Tickets are available at ci.ovationtix.com/36412/production/1135250. Enjoy an evening of appetizers, a dinner buffet and entertainment provided by Pittsburgh based Slapsticks Productions.

Journey through the 1980s as Bodiography takes the Butler Intermediate High School stage in Maria Caruso's latest ballet, Rearview Mirror, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. The performance is free.

The 12th annual Great Pumpkin Race is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. It includes a 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run at St. Gregory’s School, 115 Pine St., Zelienople. Register at www.skisignup.com/.

A Bump in the Night at Jennings Environmental Education Center will feature an indoor presentation and outdoor walk at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. Experience folklore and legends of nocturnal animals at 2951 Prospect Road, Slippery Rock.

On Monday, Hill United Presbyterian Church, 811 East Brady St., Butler, will hold a Trunk or Treat at 6 p.m.

The Karns City High School Drama Club is presenting a Fall Variety Show at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 1446 Kittanning Pike, Karns City. Tickets are $7 in advance or $8 at the door.
