Police: Man with plastic gun struck by vehicle, killed
A 32-year-old Butler man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Butler Township after he was running in and out of traffic while carrying a plastic gun and dressed in dark clothes on Monday, Jan. 1, evening.
Township police said Nathan Saul was dressed in dark clothing and holding a green and orange plastic gun while running in and out of traffic on New Castle Road at Sharon Drive around 8 p.m. when he was struck.
The driver, Zachary Slomers, 20, of Butler, was traveling west and didn’t see Saul before he struck him, police said.
Saul was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and died as a result of the injuries from the crash, police said.
Butler City police, state police and the Butler Township Volunteer Fire District assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
