Casey diagnosed with cancer, says prognosis is good
U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa, announced Thursday that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Via a news release, Casey said the diagnosis came last month.
“While this news came as a shock, I can report that I have an excellent prognosis, as well as the benefit of exceptional medical care and the unwavering support of my family,” Casey said.
He said the outlook is good for his health moving forward.
“In the coming months I will undergo surgery, after which I am expected to make a full recovery,” Casey said.
He has no plans to let the diagnosis affect his status as a U.S. senator, saying his recommended course of treatment will allow him to continue serving his constituents across the state.
“I look forward to the work ahead,” Casey said.
