State Police: Zero fatalities during New Year's holiday
The Pennsylvania State Police investigated 481 motor vehicle crashes during the New Year's holiday weekend from Dec. 30 through Jan. 1. None of these crashes included fatalities; 108 people were injured.
State troopers arrested 356 individuals for driving under the influence (DUI) during the enforcement period. Troopers also wrote a total of 12,445 citations for various traffic violations including speeding, seat belt and child seat infractions.
In Butler County, enforcement data from Troop D showed that officers responded to 16 crashes, none of which were fatal. Alcohol was a factor in two of the crashes, and two people were injured, according to the report.
The data from Troop D also included 28 DUI citations, 149 relating to speed, 19 for seat belts and 282 other citations. There were 60 seat belt warnings issued and 35 self-initiated criminal arrests.
