Police Reports

The following items were collected from various police departments and district courts.

Cranberry Township police

Jan. 18, 2022 — Jacob Joseph Jones, 28, of Cranberry Township, was charged with simple assault. Police said he struck his brother and caused a bruise and swelling around his left eye.

State police, Butler

Jan. 9 — Ronald J. Germani, 62, of New Castle, was charged with misdemeanor DUI. Police said they stopped him Dec. 3 on Route 422, Muddy Creek Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed he was impaired, and a later blood test showed traces of bupropion in his system.

Jan. 9 — Tyler Richardson, 18, of Wilkinsburg, was charged with felony escape. Police said he left Summit Academy.

Jan. 5 — John D. Gibson III, 43, of Connoquenessing, was charged with misdemeanors DUI and drug possession. Police said he crashed his vehicle on Eagle Mill Road, Connoquenessing Township. Police said he showed signs of impairment, and a later blood test showed traces of fentanyl and THC in his system.

Dec. 4 — Jacob Ruth, 23, of Harmony, is facing theft charges. Police said he stole more than $2,000 in merchandise, returned them for in-store credit and then used gift cards to buy expensive tools, involving five Lowe’s stores in Butler and Allegheny counties between Nov. 4 and Dec. 4 last year. Police also said they filed charges against Ruth in connection with the theft of jewelry, cash and other property from a home in Jefferson Township on Dec. 6. A chain saw reported stolen by another victim was recovered by plainclothes officers when Ruth tried to sell it in a gas station parking lot, police said.

Dec. 10 — Izjanae Sonia Soler, 19, of East Stroudsburg, Monroe County, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and three summary traffic violations. Police said she crashed her vehicle on Centerville Pike at Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township.

Dec. 17 — Gerald Volpe Jr., 49, of New Castle, Lawrence County, was charged with driving under the influence and summary traffic violations. Police said he was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.

Jan. 17 — Bryce Franklin Butler, 21, of Saxonburg, was charged with felony charges of aggravated assault of a victim less than 6 years old and endangering the welfare of children, and a misdemeanor count of simple assault. Police said he struck a 2-year-old girl and caused injuries to her face and right ear.

State Police, Mercer

March 21 — Jack Nevels Jr., 34, of Pittsburgh, was charged with DUI and summary traffic violations. Police said he was pulled over for a traffic violation on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township.

Butler Township police

Oct. 27 — Brendan Linton, 27, of Butler was charged with disorderly conduct, slow moving vehicle to drive off roadway and pedal cycle operated at safe speed to not impede traffic; and James Smith, 29, of Bulter was charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and littering, following an incident on Route 68 near Artlee Avenue. Police said Linton was impeding traffic and failed to move his bicycle over, and Smith threw a liquid-filled bottle at Linton while he was riding his bike.
