Butler County Symphony Orchestra to seek new conductor
The Butler County Symphony Association will begin the search for a conductor, because its current conductor, Matthew Kraemer, has accepted a position in New Orleans.
Kraemer will step down as the Butler County Symphony Orchestra conductor at the end of the current season, which runs until April 8, according to a news release from the symphony association. His position as music directorship of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans will begin in September.
He will conduct the Butler County symphony’s three remaining concerts this season, which include “Symphonic Dances” on Feb. 4, “The Inextinguishable” on March 4, and “The Golden Age of Hollywood” on April 8.
Kraemer also will read and discuss concert-themed children’s stories centered toward area youth for “Symphony Storytime,” the morning after each symphony concert at the Butler Area Public Library.
