After more than two decades on air, Phil McGraw’s eponymous daytime talk show will come to an end in the spring.

McGraw on Tuesday revealed his long-running advice show, “Dr. Phil,” will wrap with the current 2022-2023 television season, the show’s 21st. The announcement comes at the end of his most recent contract — which involved a five-season renewal signed in a 2018 mega-deal with CBS Media Ventures.

“I have been blessed with over 25 wonderful years in daytime television,” McGraw said in a statement sent to PEOPLE.

“With this show, we have helped thousands of guests and millions of viewers through everything from addiction and marriage to mental wellness and raising children. This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career, but while I’m moving on from daytime, there is so much more I wish to do.”

As for what’s next, McGraw has kept mostly tight-lipped regarding his next venture — which is slated for release some time next year.

CBS Media Ventures said McGraw will soon share details on a “strategic primetime partnership” that will help him “increase his impact on television and viewers.”

“I am compelled to engage with a broader audience because I have grave concerns for the American family, and I am determined to help restore a clarity of purpose as well as our core values,” said McGraw, who kicked off his television career on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” back in the 90s.

Before that, he worked as a licensed psychologist in Texas.
