Sen. Vogel will continue as co-chairman of state Legislative Hunger Caucus

State Sen. Elder Vogel, R-47th, once again will serve as co-chairman of the Legislative Hunger Caucus, he said in a news release Thursday.

Rep. Emily Kinkead, D-Allegheny, will be the state House co-chairman for the 2023-24 legislative session.

The Hunger Caucus was founded in 2008 to educate legislators on food insecurity issues, improve access to nutrition programs and combat hunger across the state.

In 2010, the caucus established the Capitol Hunger Garden, on the grounds of the state capitol. It continues to serve as a teaching tool and a volunteer-driven source of fresh produce more than a decade later.

“I’m excited to welcome Rep. Kinkead as caucus co-chair this session and look forward to another successful growing season in our hunger garden, which harvested over 700 pounds of produce last season,” Vogel said.
