PennDOT urges safe driving ahead of Super Bowl weekend
With Super Bowl LVII approaching on Sunday, the state Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to drive responsibly on roadways ahead of the big weekend.
The Super Bowl is one of America’s most popular national sporting events and millions of people will gather with friends and family to socialize and watch the game.
According to PennDOT data, there were 46 drunk driver crashes statewide last year from Super Bowl Sunday through 6 a.m. the following day. In addition, there were 348 additional crashes statewide.
PennDOT advises people to take the keys away from anyone who is intoxicated and help them arrange a sober ride home.
Those hosting a party where alcohol will be served are asked to make sure all guests leave with a sober driver and to always wear a seat belt.
