Nancy McCaffrey
Nancy J. (Drylie) McCaffrey, 75, formerly of East Pittsburgh and Penn Hills, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023.
She was the daughter of the late Clarence David Drylie Sr. and the late Agnes W. (Anderson) Drylie.
She was the beloved wife of the late William “Moose” McCaffrey.
She was the cherished aunt of Beth Ann (John) Drushel, Heather (Jim) Mullen, David (Jen) Drylie, Darci (fiancé Andre) Drylie and Christopher Drylie.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence David (surviving spouse Darlene) Drylie Jr., and her sister-in-law, Diana M. Drylie.
She was the dear friend of Judy Cohen and Gloria Swazuk, and is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Nancy was a 1965 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School. She then went on to obtain both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Point Park University.
Nancy quickly developed a passion for elementary education. She taught in the Woodland Hills School District for over 27 years before retiring, serving most of her years at Benjamin Fairless Elementary School in North Braddock.
Nancy enjoyed reading mystery novels and vacationing in Atlantic City, N.J. She was an avid golfer and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. Throughout her life, Nancy was a proud supporter of her Scottish heritage.
MCCAFFREY — Friends of Nancy J. (Drylie) McCaffrey, who died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, are welcome from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 700 Linden Ave., East Pittsburgh, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m.
