Local author to speak at South Butler Community Library

The South Butler Community Library, 240 West Main St., Saxonburg, will host local author Julie Tulba at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23. Tulba has written three books with settings in Butler/Pittsburgh and is a librarian at Butler County Community College.

It was a trip to Vietnam in 2020 that inspired Tulba to write "Red Clay Ashes," her new novel about the Vietnam War, partially set in Butler. Having traveled to more than 30 countries on five continents, her experiences around the world have greatly influenced her writing. She will discuss her favorite travel memories and the story behind the writing of "Red Clay Ashes," and she will give a reading from the book.

Copies of the book will be available for $20.

This is a free event to all community members. Registration is preferred. Contact the library at 724-352-4810 or director@southbutlerlibrary.org. Walk-ins are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
