Freeport WPIBL team runner-up
Butler finishes 4th at event
The Freeport girls bowling team earned second-place in the WPIBL team championships at Sims Lane Thursday. Butler finished two spots behind the Yellowjackets in fourth place.
Freeport qualified as the third seed in the event after qualifying games of 255 by Kylie McConahy and 222 by Julia Cummings. Both were highs for the ‘Jackets.
After downing No. 2-seed Plum in a best-of-three Baker Format matchup, the ‘Jackets fell short against Deer Lakes in the finals.
The Golden Tornado’s Kelsee McConnell and Natalie Coughenour both rolled 569 series, which tied for 11th best overall.
Freeport finished first in their section, meaning they’ve already qualified for upcoming regionals at AMF Belle Vernon Lanes.
